Rescue Her

Wow, so the topic of human trafficking and sex slavery is one that I am just beginning to dip my toes in and already it has my heart hurting, longing for there to be freedom for each person. The injustice of it all.  It hurts the most to hear of the little girls being abused. I believe there is hope, there are answers, there are ways out...maybe we can all make a little difference...actually I know we can! Each life matters, each person deserves freedom and a healthy life free from mistreatment and pain. This is the same mindset that Josie Carignan had when she started Rescue Her. Each one matters.

Here is Josie's story:

My name is Josie Carignan. I am a wife and a mother of three wonderful children. Rescue Her was born out of the desire in my heart to do SOMETHING to help the helpless in the darkest places; victims of Human Trafficking. They can not help themselves. For a long time I wasn’t sure what to do, and I kept being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem. It is easier just to turn a blind eye. “What could I possibly do that would make a difference?” I kept telling myself.

One day that changed. I had one of those life changing moments with God. I felt him speak to my heart saying: “My light is greater than even this darkness. And it is ok that you can’t help everybody, but you CAN rescue one... and then another, and another.” And out of that moment Rescue Her was born. To sit and do nothing just was no longer an option. I believe that most people want to help, just like I did, they just need to know how.

When I started Rescue Her I was a stay at home mom living in a small town without any real financial means to make an impact. It took a lot of creativity and hard work to see the vision of Rescue Her become a reality. Looking at it now, seeing what God has done through the tiny steps of faith I took, it was worth every bit and I am amazed at the impact we are having as we come together and decide to act.
Maybe you, just like I did, want to do something, but you're not sure how. I hope Rescue Her is an answer to that question, and that you will come on board with us, and together we can rescue many!
Love,
Josie

Chains for Chains (20% discount code)

I've recently discovered a handful of organizations online that are doing what is called 50/50 giving, where they sell items and give 50% to organizations around the world that are loving and helping others in need. One I really like is called Chains for Chains. They make really cool key necklaces and half of the income is given to organizations around the world that are working to free women and children from slavery and exploitation.

Here are some pictures of their products, these necklaces would be great for guys or gals. Each key is unique and wrapped with a leather cord, your choice of color. I like the turquoise one best!

Chains for Chains has kindly offered to continue their cyber monday 20% off discount for all of you, now through the end of December! Use the code STOPTRAFFICK at checkout. Go to http://chainsforchains.bigcartel.com/ to find out more and purchase some of these awesome necklaces. Please take advantage of this deal, especially if you still have Christmas gifts to buy!

The Starfish Project

I've been wanting to share with you about one of my favorite organizations; Starfish Project! This one is really close to my heart.

The Starfish Project was established in 2006 to empower exploited women in Asia. The Project developed a socially responsible jewelry business in order to provide women with alternative employment and a range of holistic care opportunities. In 2011, the project has grown to support approximately 35 women in 2 different cities, primarily through the jewelry company where women have taken on new levels of responsibility and leadership, and are able to provide for their families through meaningful employment. The Starfish Project also provides opportunities for women to heal and grow through counseling, vocational training, language acquisition, family education benefits and health care access, as well as providing housing in our women's shelter. The Starfish Project is committed to restoring hope for each woman that enters its doors.
(This info and more can be found at: www.starfish-project.com)

The jewelry that these women make is beautiful and affordable, and the profits go to the women's salary, housing, health care, and to continue freeing more women from lives of abuse and hopelessness.

Beautiful earrings, necklaces and bracelets
Really cute jewelry for younger girls too!

Check out Starfish jewelry at: www.starfish-project.com

Happy Holiday shopping! I hope you will find some great gifts that give twice this Christmas! In the next few weeks I will be posting about more wonderful gift ideas!
